¿Existe la «teoría del diseño»?Resulta evidente a todas luces que hay una práctica profesional del diseño, pero no está tan claro que exista una teoría del diseño como emergente o resultado analítico de esa práctica.
Disciplinas teóricas como la retórica, la historia, la comunicación, la semiología, la física, el cálculo estructural, la sociología, la economía, la estética y la etnografía, entre otras muchas, son adecuadas para hacer análisis sobre los trabajos efectuados por los diferentes tipos de diseñadores; y proveen conocimientos para que los diseñadores los apliquen en su práctica profesional. Ahora bien: ¿existe la teoría del diseño?, ¿hay algunas leyes o postulados generales propios del diseño y aplicables a todos o a una mayoría de los casos a diseñar? ¿Cuáles son los artículos, libros y autores del saber teórico propio del diseño?
